New Keyshia Cole & Gnarls Barkely CD....
Keyshia tells SOHH magazine that she is already conceptualizing and putting ideas together for her third CD. I'm guessing her label wants her to follow the momentum of her second album "Just Like You" which I grew to like...
“I’m writing down ideas now, just what I feel like the album should be about. This is the first time I’ve actually done that so that should be fun. They want it out by Christmas.”
In other news, my boys Gnarls Barkley are almost done with the follow up to there critically successful, St. Elsewhere. Cee-lo tells Billboard.com..
“I’m hoping that I don’t fall out of grace with whatever I’ve done to deserve this to pass through me,” Cee-Lo told Billboard last summer. “So I become concerned with it in that right. It’s not something I want to get in every publication and explain. Music is a natural mystic,” he continued. “This is not something that we contrived. It’s truly something that we just can’t explain, you know what I mean? So why try to explain it at all? It just is.”

DRAMA: Keyshia Cole vs. Fantasia
I saw Fantasia on Saturday at the Oak Hollow Mall in North Carolina. She was really friendly and signed autographs for me and my little sister.
But something strange happened. After my sister got the autograph, [my sister's] told Fantasia that she and Keyshia Cole were [my sister's] favorite singers. Fantasia looked a little upset and just broke into song and sang a verse I've never heard before. I can't lie it sounded real good too.
Then Fantasia said, "Could Keyshia Cole do that." My sister was like "No." And Fantasia said, "She wishes she could do that."
I don't know about ya'll but I'm ready for a knock-down drag out cat fight where Keyshia mama and Fantasia brother jump-in!!
Nippy, Take This R. Kelly Song!!
Kells wrote this beautiful song for Whitney Called "I Run To You." I didn't think R. Kelly still had it in him to write a beautiful ballad without it being sexually related , but he proved me wrong!!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: RAHEEM DEVAUGHN
What I would consider one of the most overlooked artists of the past decade, Raheem Devaughn is a talented vocalist and excellent performer and lyricist. He's made headlines when he debuted at #5 with his sophomore album Love Behind The Melody this past week on Billboard 200. Before first album The Love Experience, Devaughn was a college student who quickly found his passion for music:
"Before I knew what was going on, I was... cutting class to write lyrics and record". His focus turned to becoming a professional singer. Locally in the DC Metro area he attained relatively quick success, winning local awards and successfully releasing some independent work over the next few years. He won $2,000 from the Washington DC nightclub Bar Nun talent show. DeVaughn ultimately gained the attention of veteran producers DJ Jazzy Jeff (as Rahiem) and Kenny Burns (known as former A&R for Roc-A-Fella Records) and signed a recording contract with Jive Records in 2002.

Positive and emotional, this boy is a force to be reckoned with in an industry full of stereotypical artists who wouldn't know how to sing if Luther Vandross (RIP) taught them himself. His second single "Customer" has been released to radio and should do well. Pick up the album Love Behind The Music which is already in stores. Click here to visit his myspace.

First name Charlie, Last Name Wilson featuring T-Pain- Supa Sexy
If you remember Charlie Wilson, he was a member of "The Gap Band" and was featured on Snoop Dogg's "Beautiful" and "Signs."
I can see this song doing really well on the urban adult contemporary charts, but nothing past that. Some how T-Pain made his way on the track just like every 75% of all the songs that came out in 2007...enjoy!! Be looking out for Wilson's album "Supa Sexy" in stores this year!!
Ashanti - The Way That I Luv U
ARTIST TO WATCH
I don't know if many of you have heard of Estelle. She is getting all types of comparisons from Lauryn Hill to Amy Winehouse. I saw her first on Rolling Stone's 2008 Artists to watch. She hails from the UK and has already caught the interest of artists such as Kanye West and John Legend. Her new album "Shine" will feature these artists and the second single "American Boy" featuring Kanye should be released shortly.
Im lovin everything from her vibe down to her look. She should be really successful. Below is her video for "Just A Touch."

Kat Williams keeps "It Pimpin Pimpin'"
Have we not learned from Eddy Murphy? We don't know who gave this nigga an record deal, but we guess that speaks of the state of the music industry. Kat Williams is set to release "It's Pimpin Pimpin'" this spring with appearances from Snoop Dogg, Lyfe Jennings, Nelly, Lil Weezy (crack baby), Da Brat, Lil Jon, and Paul Wall. Thankfully there is a Best of Kat Williams DVD packaged with it.
Midget Man can also be seen in First Sunday starring opposite Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan (neither do nothing for me.)
Ying Yang Twins & Dr Phil: WTF
Rappers Kaine and D-Roc of Atlanta based duo the Ying Yang Twins are scheduled to appear on an upcoming episode of the Dr. Phil talk show to debate a recent campaign to put an end to saggy jeans. The pair have been invited onto the show to discuss the issue alongside the founders of the Dallas based Hip-Hop Government organization, Rev. Al Sharpton and Dallas Deputy Pro Tem Mayor Dwaine Caraway. Jay Scroggins, Damon Wofford, and Chris Williams launched Hip-Hop Government in 2005 as a way to get young people within the Hip-Hop culture involved in the political process.
In October of 2007, the group launched its “Pull ‘Em Up” campaign against the fashion trend of sagging jeans and exposed boxer shorts. The men believe that the trend is often misinterpreted by people outside of the culture and used to stereotype young people, ultimately hurting their chances of securing employment. Hip-Hop Government eventually erected 17 billboards across the city publicizing the campaign.
While their project seems well intentioned, the “Pull ‘Em Up” campaign and similar pushes in other cities have stirred up much controversy. Opponents have called the measures an affront to free speech and another excuse for authorities to racially profile minority youth. “We are excited for the opportunity to address issues that concern our culture,” Williams said of the appearance on Dr. Phil. “Too often, when members of the hip hop community are in the media, it’s for something negative. It feels good to know that we are being invited because we are recognized for our positive contributions to the community.” According to the Ying Yang Twins’ Myspace page, the episode will air on January 28.

This is Chris Brown feat. Will.I.Am "Picture Perfect". Personally I don't like anything Will.I.Am produces so this song isn't a good follow up single to "With You." He should have came with something harder than this.

In Music News: J-Hud album pushed back and Kelly speaks on her album flop...
Last year was Jennifer Hudson's year and she was supposed to have an album released, but her label decided to scrap it halfway through and start all over again. Damn J-Hud! I heard a leaked song last year called "Special" with Papoose that I actually liked, but I'm sure they scrapped that too.
The frontman for One Republic who has some writing credit's on my girl's upcoming album had this to say about her and her CD,
“They made half an album and ended up scrapping it. Clive — wisely, I think — said, ‘No one’s going to buy this. We’re trying to turn her into Aretha Franklin, and that’s not realistic,’ ” Tedder said. “They scrapped a bunch of songs and started fresh. I heard a Timbaland song that was by far the best song she’s done. I do wish, and I know the label wishes, that this album had come out six months ago. But Clive’s smart. He didn’t want to just put out a crap album just because of the momentum.
“The sales weren’t as good as I wanted them to be and to be honest, I did feel sad about that for a little while. I felt that the industry was fickle and for a minute, I felt like I didn’t want to be a part of that any more. I feel that the label should have promoted it more the first time around. But they’re excited now, so that’s all that counts.”
JR Rotem who produced "Beautiful Girls" and Nate "Danjahandz" Hills who has worked with Timbaland and some of Britney songs on "Blackout" will have production on her re-released CD. The first single off of it is the song "Daylight" which I actually like!! Hope everything goes will for my baby mama!
Lil Wayne gets arrested
On a drug charge--what a loser!! Dwayne Carter Jr., was arrested near Yuma, Arizona last night on three felony counts: possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Drug Enforcement Agency is dealing with the case which makes it even worse for Weezy!
Wayne is currently in the custody of the Yuma County Sheriff's Department, where he'll be held pending his arraignment at 9:00 AM PT.
Wayne was arrested in Idaho last year for felony possession of drugs. Quit getting arrested in this weird states, you know they hate rappers!
Update:
TMZ has learned rapper Lil' Wayne has been hit with some big time charges -- possession of cocaine, possession of ecstasy and possession of drug paraphernalia. Make it rain!
Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, was arrested with two others who have been charged with possession of marijuana. Cops say they found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine and 41 grams of ecstasy pills on his tour bus -- after they stopped at a Border Patrol checkpoint.
Police also found $22,000 in cash and a 40-caliber pistol, but Wayne, we're told, does have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in the state of Florida. They tell us they're checking to see if that carries over to Arizona.
The judge set his bond at $10,000. He should be released in a lil' while.
Lil Kim goes independent!!
Despite reports that says she has been dropped from Atlantic, Lil Kim has decided to release her upcoming album independently. Billboard reports:
On DJ Kay Slay’s Sirius Satellite Radio show “Streetsweeper Radio” last week, Kim shared that she harbors no ill feelings toward Atlantic. She said she was afraid to release her music independently several years ago but is now more comfortable in her knowledge of the music business to work her project.
Fans should expect a release date at around May.

Def Jam might drop Rapper NAS!!
We're hearing some crazy talk coming out of Def Jam's offices this week. According to one of MediaTakeOut.com's trusted insiders, the top label is actually considering dropping Nas.
According to our insider, the trouble is over the naming of Nas' new album. You see, Nas is refusing to change the name of his new album (which is tentatively called, the N-Word) - and that has the label's top brass furious. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "There is no way that we can put out an album with that title. Many retailers have already told us - flat out - that they won't carry [an album with that title] ... Nas' last album [Hip Hop Is Dead] sold pretty well, but not well enough for the headache he's causing [the label]."
And there's more. Our insider claims that there should be an announcement coming from the label this week. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "If Nas doesn't change his mind, he'll be dropped. And he doesn't have to much time to come to that realization."
Check back guys. We should have more on this story later today...

Personally I love the title!

"Brokeback Mountain" star Heath Ledger dead!!!
Heath Ledger has died in NY.
He was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET today. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime, adding that prescription pills were found near his body.
According to NYPD a masseuse arrived at Ledger's apartment and was let in by a housekeeper. When Ledger didn't answer his bedroom door, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened it and found him unconscious. They attempted to wake him; when they couldn't, they called 911.
We're told when paramedics responded, the actor was in full cardiac arrest. They attempted to perform CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 28-year-old actor has a two year old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams -- they separated in September, 2007. He plays The Joker in the upcoming Batman film, "The Dark Knight" and is perhaps best known for his groundbreaking role as Ennis in "Brokeback Mountain."
Update: Word is it's a possible overdose!!

Rehab--No, No, No
Finally! It looks like the turbo trainwreck is gonna slow down -- Amy Winehouse has checked into rehab, according to The Sun. The singer left her home in London this afternoon to enter the Edward House private rehabilitation clinic. You and your beehive, please stay in there this time!
Check out the tmz video here
Update: She is not in rehab :( People is reporting Amy is NOT in rehab, she was simply visiting a doctor who she "regularly sees as part of her ongoing treatment."
After seeing that video, I think she needs help, but whatever, I'm ready for the next CD!!
