Mariah to replace Janet on SNL....

Our girl Mariah will be replacing Janet Jackson on SNL this Saturday NBC has announced. If you have been keeping up with the news, Janet was hospitalized with influenza earlier this week so she had to cancel her performance this week. Her publicist Patti Webster says "she needs some time to get better." Get well soon Janet!!

Janet's new album "Discipline" debuted #1 on Billboard and has gotten positive reviews.

Mariah's album E=MC2 will be in stores April 15th!!

You Know You're Career's In The Crapper When...

*R&B singer India.Arie will bring her talent to the Great White Way this summer in the first Broadway revival of "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf."

Whoopi Goldberg and DreamTeam Entertainment Group will serve as executive producers of the work, which is based on Ntozake Shange's book of the same name and presents the stories of seven women of color from the African Diaspora.

Arie, born India Arie Simpson, will head the company at a theatre to be announced this summer. Shirley Jo Finney will direct the production, while Tony winner Hinton Battle has signed on as choreographer.

Previews of the Obie-winning drama will begin on or about July 15 with an opening on or about Aug. 2, according to Playbill News. The supporting cast and its home theater have yet to be announced.

The production's original run was nominated for a Tony Award in 1977 for Best Play, and Trazana Beverley won a Tony in the category of Best Actress in a Featured Role (Play). The original Broadway company also featured Laurie Carlos, Risë Collins, Aku Kadogo, Janet League, Paula Moss and Ntozake Shange.

So far HBO has ordered 13 episodes, beginning with a two hour pilot co-written and directed by Anthony Minghella which was shot last summer. BBC viewers will have their chance to watch the pilot in the form of a stand alone film next month, while HBO plans to use the pilot as the first episode of the new series, which is scheduled to go into production this summer and launch next first quarter.

Rick Ross' Trilla

With production from everybody including Drumma Boy (Plies "Shawty, USDA "White Girl") to Mannie Fresh (Needs no credits,) Rick Ross is hoping bypass the sophomore slump. (To be honest, we had no idea he even had a single out!!)

Fat Joe The Elephant in The Room

With his highly publicized beef with 50 Cent and Papoose, Fat Joe is hoping there is still buzz around his new album. The Alchemist, Swizz Beats, and Scott Storch all have a hand in the production of the album.

This is the Remix: Touch My Body

This is the remix to Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" featuring The Dream. The Jury is still out on this one because we're not to fond of The Dream as an artist.

Fat Joe vs Papoose: The rolls...we mean blows....

We don't usually report on rap music, but I take it rappers Papoose and Fat Joe had an altercation recently. Here's their takes on it....

Fat Joe: “It’s a new breed of internet guys and internet thugs. The point is this. 50 Cent got 30 cops with him all day. When you on the radio with 50 Cent and your laughing and he’s disrespecting Fat Joe, and your wife is Remy Martin and she’s disrespecting Fat Joe on the radio, I [had to] see you [Papoose] the next day. I had no choice but to ask dude if he had a problem, cause he was acting like he did.”

Papoose: “The next thing I know Fat Joe busts in the door with about nine of his bodyguards, jumping in my face, asking me do I gotta a problem with them. I responded ‘do you have a problem with me?’ He responded ‘yeah.’ That’s when everything popped off. Yes I two pieced him in his mouth and I don’t know why he’s denying it. The dude is running around fabricating this. I stood tall and I stand tall in any situation. I’m from Brooklyn, New York, that’s what we do. I never spoke nothing about Fat Joe, I never made one single comment about this dude. 50 got an office right across the street from Madison Square Garden. This dude knows where 50 Cent is at on a constant basis. Why didn’t he go over to 50’s office and ask him if he had a problem? What makes him think he can come over to me like that and he’s not gonna get punched in his mouth like he did?”

“50 Cent is the real problem. I wish he would come out of the hiding nest and say ‘Yo Joe lets fight one-on-one, and we can get it over with. Win of lose, we can get it over with and go to blows. He keeps trying to throw people in the front of it.”

Album Review: New Amerykah, Part One: 4th Ward War

Mrs. Badu returns after a five year hiatus to bring us New Amerykah. Part One of the series takes us straight from earth, past the planets occupied by Kelis and Missy Elliot and onto another planet inhabited by her comtemperaries Andre3000 and MosDef. With a ting her and a off the wall voice here, she has no intentions of making a mainstream album on this effort. The single "Honey" is used as a ploy, and a very good one at that because none of the other songs on the CD is anything remotely close to it. No particular catchy choruses and verses. The song "Me" and "New Amerykah Promise" are our favorites CD. This is not a CD you really can bump one or two songs on, you have to listen to it all the way trough. Go Cop it!!

WOW!!

Boxer Floyd Mayweather has supposedly signed Chris Stokes's bust it baby Raz B to his new record label...Why are we suddenly craving some grapes??....

Widow wants Lauryn Hill for upcoming biopic

Rita Marley, widow of Bob Marley, wants The D-Lo's all-time favorite singer Lauryn Hill for her upcoming biopic, she tells Billboard this....

"Lauryn would be ideal [to play me]" said Marley. Her husband's son with Janet Hunt, Rohan, is married to the troubled singer, who largely disappeared from the music scene after her acclaimed 1998 debut solo album. "She sees my life as her life." Hill will vet the adaptation currently being written by Lizzie Borden ("Working Girls"), who is down in Jamaica completing the script.

This should be very interesting. I would love to see L-Boogie in the spotlight again and this would be a nice vehicle to push her back into it. Click here to read the rest of the article.
